Terms of use

The rules for using Helpy and this website, kept short and readable.

1. What Helpy is

Helpy is a free browser extension by Javier Peres, Berlin, Germany, that helps you organize, search and understand your bookmarks and web pages using an AI service of your choice. By installing or using Helpy, or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

2. Your AI provider and API keys

  • Helpy connects to AI services (such as Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, a local server or Chrome's built-in AI) that you choose and set up.
  • You are responsible for your API keys, for complying with your provider's terms and policies, and for any costs your provider charges for your usage. Helpy shows estimates, but your provider's billing is what counts.
  • Keep your keys secret. Helpy stores them only in your browser. Never share them in feedback messages.

3. AI output and your bookmarks

  • AI suggestions and answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check them before relying on them, especially answers about important topics.
  • Helpy only changes your bookmarks when you confirm it. You're responsible for reviewing suggestions and bulk-organize plans before applying them.
  • Before large changes, export a backup (Settings → Backup & share). We can't restore bookmarks for you.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use Helpy or this website to break the law, to infringe others' rights, to send spam or automated submissions through the feedback form, or to interfere with the site or the services Helpy connects to. Don't attempt to misuse other people's API keys.

5. Free, as-is, no warranty

Helpy and this website are provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. Features may change, and Helpy may stop working with a provider if that provider changes its service.

6. Limitation of liability

As Helpy is provided free of charge, we are liable only for intent and gross negligence, and under mandatory statutory provisions (including liability for injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act). We are not liable for lost or changed bookmarks, provider charges, or damages caused by AI output, to the extent permitted by law.

7. Donations

"Buy me a coffee" donations are voluntary gifts made through PayPal. They don't buy any service, feature or support commitment, and are handled under PayPal's terms.

8. Privacy

How data is handled is described in the privacy policy.

9. Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use Helpy after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence still apply.
